We want to thank Flo from “Say Hello To My Little Friends” for nominating us for the Great Doll Blog Award! Her blog is fabulous, and if you haven’t already, we urge you to check out her blog.
- Thank the person that nominated you.
- Answer the questions given to you.
- Nominate at least 5 others who you think have a great doll blog.
- Notify them that they have an award.
- Leave them at least 5 questions to answer.
These are the questions we get to answer, since there are two of us we will answer separately.
1. Besides dolls, do you collect anything else?
Meg: Boots! I love boots, living in Canada, I was able to get away wearing boots 8 months of the year. Last summer Michelle introduced me to the western boots at Lammle’s, and now I will have boots for the other four months! 🙂 My favourite boots are Miz Mooz, I have three pairs…so far!
Michelle: I have a massive fabric and ribbon addiction. It is a tad out of control. On the upside, 98% of the time have the supplies to “whip” up a quick project…which leads to the second part of my addiction, I can’t leave it simple. I always feel the need to amp it up.
2. What is your favourite non-doll item (not made originally for dolls) you have that you use for your dolls?
Meg: My looper brush! I love that thing, I don’t brush my doll’s hair with anything else!
Michelle: I agree with Meg. Where have these brushes been all my life?
3. What is something that you don’t know how to do that you’d like to learn?
Meg: I would to love to learn to customize dolls. I am part of this amazing Facebook group where women share all the work they do with their dolls, and I am just in awe!
Michelle: I would like to learn wood working skills so that I could expand my DYI projects! This would also make my husband happy as he often stares at me and says you want me to build What??
4. How do you come up with names for your dolls?
Meg: I haven’t had to name any of my current dolls as they came with names, but when I was younger I would always choose names I considered exotic, like Francesca.
Michelle: All of my dolls currently have come with names. When I was younger I would choose names that were cute and perky and very different from the names my friends dolls had.
5. What made you decide to start a doll blog?
Meg: When my daughters and I started to collect dolls two years ago, I would often search the internet for help with hair, sticky eyes, and doll care tips. Sites I did find were American, and suggested products that weren’t available in Canada. So I thought why not start a doll blog dedicated to Canadians? A place where Canadians can find answers to all their doll questions. It’s been a lot of fun, and as it turns out people from other countries around world like what we are doing as well!
Michelle: When my girls asked for dolls for Christmas a few years ago I was researching dolls and all of the reviews came from the US. The hard thing with that was that most of the products were only available in the US. When I decided to buy Maplelea Dolls I was extremely happy with the quality of their products and wanted other Canadian Moms to known that we to had high quality dolls in Canada. Dolls with a Canadian Story and relatable to my daughters.
We nominate the following blogs:
It was so hard for us to decide! We feel that there are so many blogs deserving of this award, sorry we couldn’t give this award to each of you!
These are our questions:
What one doll would you like to add to your collection, and why?
What was your favorite adventure you took your doll on?
How did you come up with your blog name?
- What do you love most about having a doll blog?
- Which of all your doll blog posts is your favourite?
Thank you again for the nomination Flo, we are so excited to receive this award!
