My Neighbourhood Ice Cream Truck Plays Christmas Music!?!

cdnsummer

The sounds of summer are full of cheers from the nearby baseball fields, children laughing and giggling, sounds of bike bells, the squeaks of the trampoline springs, and Christmas Music. That’s right Christmas Music.

Here is a little back story for you, I grew up in a small rural town in Southern Alberta, Ice Cream Trucks were something only seen in movies. I longed for a time when I would live some place that had these magical trucks full of summery ice cream goodness. Fast forward to recent years, I now live in a town that has ice cream trucks. The first time I saw one I was so giddy and excited at the thought of being able to have that experience of hearing the happy music that accompanies ice cream trucks, walking up and paying a ridiculous amount for a nice cold treat. All my happy thoughts were erased when the music started to play…imagine the dismay I had when the song being played was “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.

My daughters recently got the Our Generation Ice Cream Truck for their birthdays, it didn’t take long for Meg and I to pack up the truck, head to the fabulous Riley Park with the oldest daughters of each family and do an amazing photo shoot for summer. I am so excited to share with you the pictures and the outtakes of that night, as well as a full review of the Ice Cream Truck which will be coming very soon. You won’t want to miss it.

  1. We have ice cream trucks come though our neighborhood, but when I was a girl I lived in a rural community – no ice cream trucks. SIGH. Now whenever the kids hear the truck I give them some change to get a treat!

  2. We live in Southern Alberta! 🙂 We don’t have ice cream trucks, but we did have ice cream carts that people would pull on their bicycles. They just had jingle bells on them. I haven’t seen many around lately, but we now have a Shaved Ice truck that comes around. It doesn’t play music though. There is just a website that you can go to see where the truck will be at during the day, and you can contact them to get them to come to your event. The kids love it. I just wish they served ice cream instead. I’m not a fan of shaved ice.
